The tenth annual Festival of Tibet will be an anniversary event to remember. Two events, to go on-sale in early December, offer something for everyone – discussion, art, music, intrigue and philosophy.

Kicking off in the evening of Fri 27April, Festival favourite, Ama la (the Dalai Lama’s sister, Jetsun Pema) in conversation with author and media personality, Meshel Laurie. After their sold out performance during the Festival in 2015, Festival of Tibet is deeply privileged to have Ama la and Meshel join us again. Enjoy a curious, mischievous and transcendent conversation from two entertaining and inspiring minds.

Directly following the conversation, the Festival offers up the Mystical Tibet concert with the superb Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra. This is guaranteed to be an evening of heartwarming enjoyment.

In the following days, Festival of Tibet is excited to announce the appearance of national living treasure, Michael Leunig in an evening performance, 1000 Stories. Leunig’s unique talented artistry and philosophy is simple, soulful and mystical. In 1000 Stories Leunig will be creating several works of art in real time, accompanied by the music and banter of Tenzin Choegyal and friends.

The Festival will continue to offer much more with workshops, exhibitions, Tibetan food and public talks. Through varied and engaging experiences through its mix of free and ticketed events, the festival raises much needed funds for the Tibetan refugee community with all proceeds going to the Tibetan Children’s Village schools in India.

Witness the creation of a superb Sand Mandala from millions of grains of coloured sand, learn to cook Tibetan dumplings, paint, meditate, contemplate and be swept up in beautiful music – the Festival of Tibet looks forward to welcoming you to its special tenth anniversary celebration at the Brisbane Powerhouse!

MORE WORKSHOPS AND FREE EVENTS TO BE ANNOUNCED IN LATER DATES.

Proudly sponsored by Brisbane Powerhouse, Philip Bacon Galleries, Perfect Potion and supported by Tibet Information Office, Chenrezig Institute, Chris Hooper Promotions, Himalayan Film Festival, Australia Tibet Council, Woodford Folk Festival, Good Fortune Trust, BEMAC, Tashi Delek Foundation.
